Prime Minister Modi is a great leader, I'm a big fan of him: Donald Trump

Trump joined the event through a surprise phone call and addressed the gathering during a conversation with U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. Describing Modi as a “great leader,” Trump said the Indian Prime Minister was one of his closest friends and added that he was a great fan of him.

Trump said ties between the United States and India are now stronger than ever and assured that the U.S. would support India in every possible way. He added that India has the full backing of both him and the American government, and said India could reach out to the U.S. for any assistance whenever needed.

The U.S. President also said the American economy and stock market are witnessing record growth and noted that cooperation with India would be strengthened further in the coming years.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is currently visiting India, was also present at the event in Delhi. India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar also attended the function.
