14 Indians in sinking dhow off Oman coast; US Navy with rescue operation

MUSCAT: A sailboat carrying 14 Indians is reportedly sinking off the coast of Oman. The dhow is about 80 nautical miles off the coast of Raʾs al-Ḥadd, Oman. The US Navy informed the Indian Navy of the incident.

The US Navy's P8 Maritime Patrol Aircraft spotted the incident. The small boats used for rescue operations were reportedly dropped from the aircraft near the ship. The US Navy also immediately relayed the information to nearby ships and the Indian Navy. After receiving the information, the MV Jabal Ali 9, which was passing through the area, set out for rescue operations. The cause of the ship's accident is not clear. Rescue operations led by the US Navy are in progress in the area.
