When UK's Oxford Deputy Mayor Louise Upton arrived at the 10th-anniversary celebrations of Sevanam UK Oxford Unit, holding the Daivadasakam book.

THRISSUR: Oxford Deputy Mayor Louise Upton of the UK has said that she became a follower of Sree Narayana Guru after learning about his teachings and philosophy. She made the revelation while attending the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Sevanam UK Oxford unit.

Upton said she first became familiar with the Guru through Daiva Dasakam. Her own research and further studies of his teachings eventually turned her into a follower.

A video of Upton speaking about the Guru while holding up his portrait has attracted attention after she shared it on Facebook. The post highlighted how the Guru's message of uniting people beyond geographical boundaries, caste and religion is gaining wider international recognition.

Last year, at an event organised by Sivagiri Ashram UK at the University of Oxford, Swami Sachidananda, president of the Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust at Sivagiri, presented Upton with a book containing translations of Daiva Dasakam into 100 languages. Upton brought the same book to the anniversary celebrations.
