Malayali medical student beaten to death by classmate in Uzbekistan; probe ongoing

TASHKENT: In a shocking incident, a Malayali medical student was beaten to death by her classmate in Uzbekistan. The victim was identified as Sawariya (22), a native of Haripad, Alappuzha. She was beaten on her head repeatedly by a laptop, leading to her death. Sadarul Anam (23), a native of Perinthalmanna, Malappuram, was arrested in the incident.

Both were students of Bukhara State Medical University in Uzbekistan. The reason for the murder remains in obscurity. It is reported that Sadarul had an argument with Sawariya, and he chose to beat her with a laptop in a sudden rage. The seriously injured woman was taken to the hospital, but her life could not be saved. The murder took place three days ago. Sadarul, who was arrested on the same day of the incident, is currently in jail.

Sawariya's body has been brought to Delhi. It is reported that the arrangements for repatriation will begin today itself. Sawariya's father is settled abroad.
