Flydubai pilots fight in cockpit; Plane sharply descends from 34,000 to 16,600 feet, emergency landing

DUBAI: A turning point in the emergency landing of Flydubai flight that was travelling from Dubai to Israel. The aircraft was diverted and made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after an emergency message was issued. Initially, reports claimed that the flight bound for Tel Aviv had been hijacked and taken to Saudi Arabia. Later, Israeli authorities clarified that the reports were incorrect and that the aircraft had made an emergency landing.

However, reports say the flight was diverted following a confrontation between the pilots. Although concerns were initially raised that the aircraft had been hijacked, Israeli authorities later confirmed that there had been no hijacking. Flydubai flight FZ1073 had departed from Dubai International Airport for Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. During the journey, the aircraft issued an emergency signal and was subsequently diverted to Saudi Arabia.

The aircraft landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia. The airline said that all passengers were safe. Reports said that while flying at an altitude of around 34,000 feet, the aircraft descended by 17,400 feet within two minutes. Following the emergency signal, the Israeli Air Force reportedly dispatched fighter jets to the aircraft, according to international media reports.

According to reports, the emergency signals were triggered following a confrontation between the two pilots on board. However, the reason behind the confrontation remains unclear. The Office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also confirmed that there had been no hijacking. Some passengers told the media that they heard shouting and that there was a confrontation near the cockpit.

However, the authorities and the airline have not officially confirmed further details of the incident. An investigation is underway. Following the incident, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held an emergency consultation with security officials. His office said that arrangements were underway to safely bring the passengers stranded in Saudi Arabia back to Israel.
