Nepal floods: Death toll rises to 332, hundreds remain missing

KATHMANDU: The death toll in Nepal's floods has risen to 332, according to the latest figures from Nepal Police. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said 288 Indian nationals remained uncontactable following the floods. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said efforts were underway to establish contact with them and coordinate with local authorities. Around 200 Indian nationals stranded on the Chinese side have also sought assistance, Jaiswal said. He also said 21 Indians who had travelled for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra had been rescued.

The number of people missing in Nepal has continued to change as authorities update their records. Earlier, Nepalese authorities had reported 826 people missing, including hundreds of tourists and foreign nationals.

The Nepal Tourism Board had earlier said 644 tourists and travellers were out of contact, including 517 foreign nationals and 127 Nepalis.
Search and rescue operations are continuing in the flood-affected areas as authorities work to locate those missing and recover bodies.
