
NEW DELHI: Three people were killed and three others critically injured after the gas cylinder of a truck exploded while it was being refilled at a CNG station near Tikri Kalan Metro station in Delhi on Wednesday afternoon. All three deceased were employees of the fuel station, according to police. One of them was identified as Manish, 25, a resident of Baba Haridas Colony. The other two were identified as Brahmjeet, 34, and Sunny, 30, both residents of Nizampur.
The three injured — Surjeet, Sanjay and Vipin — were admitted to CD Global Hospital in Mundka and were reported to be in serious condition, according to the DCP, Outer Delhi.
The explosion occurred while CNG was being filled into the truck's cylinder. Police said the exact cause of the blast was not immediately known. Reports said six people who were near the truck at the time of the explosion were taken to hospital; three of them later succumbed to their injuries. Manish died in the incident, while Sunny succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The three deceased were later identified as fuel station employees.
The Delhi Fire Service received information about the incident at 3.37 pm, following which six fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Police and fire personnel carried out rescue operations at the site.
The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be established, and further investigation is underway.
