14-year-old girl found dead with throat slit, sexual assault suspected, police launch search

SATNA: A 14-year-old girl was found murdered with her throat slit in Madhya Pradesh's Satna district. The body of the Class 8 student was found in a semi-nude state in a village under the Kotar police station limits on Sunday.

According to police, the girl had left her house at around 5 a.m. on Sunday and did not return. A search was launched, following which her body was found lying in a pool of blood in a deserted area. Police suspect that the girl was subjected to brutal sex before being killed. However, officials said that the matter can be confirmed only after the post-mortem report is received.

Police said the victim's throat had been slit with a sharp weapon. Her lower garments had been removed and were found tied around her neck. An intensive search has been launched to trace the accused. Police said some suspects have been identified and would be arrested soon.
