NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has responded sharply after a Surat-based RTI activist sought a financial probe into his studies abroad. Defending his academic credentials, Dipke challenged critics to make their own educational certificates public.
The controversy stems from complaints filed by Surat-based activist Amit Tiwari, who approached multiple authorities—including the Maharashtra government, the Election Commission of India (ECI), and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC)—regarding financial aspects linked to Dipke and his party. Tiwari questioned how Bhagwanrao Dipke, a retired junior engineer with the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) earning a modest government salary, could finance an overseas education in the United States. Tiwari also flagged questions regarding CJP’s political registration status and a ₹1 crore legal defence fund pledged by Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal.
Addressing the scrutiny in a video message and media interviews, Dipke dismissed the allegations and emphasised that his education was legally funded. He stated that he pursued a Master of Science in Public Relations from the College of Communication at Boston University using a combination of an institutional scholarship and an education loan.

Dipke publicly shared details of his institutional support, which included a Dean’s Scholarship from Boston University, with the remaining costs covered by an education loan that is currently being repaid.
