LONDON: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay’s event in London was called off citing security reasons. Vijay had planned to meet his fans at The Shard, the tallest building in London. Hundreds of fans had gathered at the venue hours before the scheduled event to see Vijay. However, at the last minute, the Metropolitan Police intervened and cancelled the event, citing security concerns.
Vijay arrived in London along with a state delegation to attract investments to Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister’s Office informed that several Memorandam of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at securing investments worth around Rs 12,300 crore were signed during the visit. The investment projects are expected to create more than 9,400 jobs in the state. The objective of the initiative is to transform Tamil Nadu into a major advanced manufacturing and technology hub in Asia.
Reports say Vijay is expected to return to India today after completing his visit to the UK.
