Massive drug bust worth Rs 3,000 crore in Arabian Sea: Five Pakistani nationals arrested

MUMBAI: The Indian Coast Guard carried out a major drug haul in the Arabian Sea. Narcotics worth over Rs 3,000 crore in the international market were confiscated from an Iranian dhow. The Coast Guard and the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) busted the gang in a joint operation west of Lakshadweep.

The Coast Guard seized 526 kg of high-grade heroin and methamphetamine. The Iranian dhow used for smuggling and its five-member crew—all Pakistani nationals—were taken into custody. Acting on intelligence inputs, the Coast Guard had been monitoring the vessel since September 25.

The Coast Guard announced that the Pakistani nationals in custody have been brought to Mumbai for further interrogation and subsequent legal proceedings. The Coast Guard further stated that this mission not only ensures the country's coastal security but also strengthens the government's 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' (Drug-Free India Campaign) initiative.
