THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Trains from Kerala have been diverted as heavy rains lashed Gujarat and Maharashtra. The Kochuveli-Amritsar Express and the Thiruvananthapuram Central-Nizamuddin Express were diverted from Panvel. They will reach Surat via Jalgaon-Paldhi-Udna. Meantime, six trains from Surat have been completely cancelled and many services have been partially cancelled. The reason is landslides and waterlogging on the tracks.
A red alert has been sounded in 20 districts of Gujarat and five districts of Maharashtra. Most of the low-lying areas of Mumbai have been submerged. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there will be heavy rain and wind in the coming hours.
