BENGALURU: Drugs worth Rs 23 crore were seized from various places in Bengaluru in a joint operation conducted by the police and narcotics department. 17 people, including a Malayali and three Nigerian nationals, were arrested in the incident. The police seized 10.27 kg of MDMA, 2.044 kg of hydroponic cannabis, 127 kg of cannabis, 300 cigarettes, a car, six two-wheelers and seven mobile phones from them.
Mohammed Omar Abdullah Farooq, a Malayali and an employee of a private firm, was arrested from H.B.R Layout. The police said that he sold cannabis. It was also found that he brought cannabis from Kerala and smuggled it to Thailand. A man named Harris was also arrested with him.
The three Nigerian nationals came to India on medical and tourist visas. It was found that they were running a drug business by renting a house. They were arrested under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Anti-Narcotics Wing) L.Y. Rajesh and Police Inspectors Praveen C. Thyaligarh and Manjappa C.A.
