NEW DELHI: Amid the ongoing CJP protest in New Delhi, a Union Minister announced his resignation from the cabinet. Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu resigned after his term in the Rajya Sabha ended. Ravneet Singh Bittu is a BJP leader in Punjab. Apart from Railways, he also held the post of Minister of State for Food Processing Industries. His term as a Rajya Sabha MP ended in June. Reports suggest that Bittu will contest the assembly elections in Punjab next year.

Bittu is the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh. He joined the BJP in 2024 and contested the Lok Sabha elections but lost. He was elected from Rajasthan to fill the remaining term of the seat vacated by Congress leader KC Venugopal.
