NEW DELHI: Defence-related documents linked to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Army have allegedly been leaked. Cyber threat intelligence firm Alibi Global Threat Intelligence has claimed that 31 GB of data, including DRDO design documents, has been put up for sale online for $8,000. The Central government and the DRDO have not confirmed the claim.

The files, which have reportedly been available online for the past two weeks, contain only sample information. They include signatures and seals of senior scientists. The seller claims that additional data will be provided upon payment.

Cybersecurity experts said the authenticity of the documents can only be verified through forensic examination.

Earlier, reports claimed that blueprints of various sections of the strategically important Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant had been offered for sale on the dark web.

Bank of Baroda data leak

Customer account details, Aadhaar numbers and loan information linked to Bank of Baroda have also reportedly been leaked. Reports said nearly one terabyte of data related to personal and corporate accounts from several branches across India had surfaced on the dark web.

The bank said it has ordered a detailed investigation into the incident. The alleged leak was first highlighted by software engineer and Cashless Consumer founder Sreekanth Lakshmanan. He said the data was first spotted on the dark web tracking website Ransomware.live on Saturday, the 25th. According to him, a hacking group known as Triples was responsible for the breach.

Leak allegedly happened through employee's email

Bank of Baroda said the attackers allegedly gained access to an employee's email account and used it to extract data from the bank's servers. The bank added that it detected the breach quickly and took immediate corrective measures.
