PUNE: The murder of Maharashtra businessman Ketan Agarwal is back in the news. Police said that Siya (20) and her boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary (22), threw Ketan Agarwal into a ravine from the Lohgarh fort. However, it is reported that the police were unable to find major evidence in the case beyond mere allegations. The accused are currently in judicial custody. If not for sufficient evidence, there is a possibility that the accused will be granted bail using legal means.
Initially, Siya had told police that Ketan slipped from the fort, leading to his death. Based on this, the police registered a case of accidental death. However, the lack of any strong emotion in Siya's behaviour after her death raised suspicions among the police. The murder was revealed during the subsequent investigation, and the police arrested Siya and her boyfriend, Chetan.
Siya was to marry Ketan in November, and both families were preparing for the big function. However, Siya saw Ketan as an obstacle as she did not want the marriage and wished to live with her boyfriend, Chetan.
Siya's first attempt to commit murder was on June 14. The young woman took Ketan to the fort and pushed him to the edge of the cliff. But luckily, Ketan managed to escape by grabbing a thicket on the hillside. Siya, terrified by this, lied and shouted that she had seen a snake there, hugged Ketan, distracting him and covering up her murder attempt.
After the first attempt failed, Siya forcibly took Ketan to the fort again on June 18. This time, she took her lover Chetan with her. Then, the two of them pushed Ketan from behind and killed him.
