HYDERABAD: A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Telangana has been arrested in a disproportionate assets case after investigators allegedly uncovered illegal wealth worth around Rs 300 crore, including properties held through benami transactions. The accused, Sanki Reddy Bheem Reddy, a DSP with the Telangana Police, was arrested from his residence on Monday night following an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
Bheem Reddy is currently posted in the Computer Services Wing of the Hyderabad Police. According to the ACB, simultaneous searches were carried out at 16 locations, including properties linked to his relatives, alleged benamis, and close associates. Investigators said they found evidence suggesting that the officer had accumulated illegal wealth on multiple occasions during his years in service.
The investigation reportedly uncovered a vast portfolio of assets, including villas, houses, apartments, and commercial buildings spread across different parts of Hyderabad. Officials also found that Bheem Reddy owned more than 44 acres of agricultural land in Telangana and Karnataka.
One of the most significant pieces of evidence in the case was a personal diary allegedly written by Bheem Reddy before leaving on a pilgrimage. According to investigators, the diary contained detailed notes about his assets, investments, liabilities, and the names of alleged benamis. He had also scanned the diary and shared copies with his two children through WhatsApp.
Officials said the diary played a crucial role in tracing several undisclosed properties and financial transactions, helping investigators piece together the alleged network of assets. The Anti-Corruption Bureau is continuing its investigation to determine the full extent of the officer's wealth and whether additional people were involved in concealing the assets.
