CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Intelligence Department has foiled an alleged conspiracy to overthrow the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government led by Vijay. According to intelligence officials, the plot involved calculated attempts to secure the resignations of 15 TVK legislators to bring down the ruling government. Three individuals have been arrested so far in connection with the case as authorities launch a deeper investigation into the political conspiracy.
The matter came to light after N. Ilayaraja, the TVK Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Uthangarai constituency, lodged a formal complaint with the Chennai Police. Acting on the complaint, law enforcement officials initially arrested an employee of a consultancy firm named IPDS in Chennai. Further investigation revealed that the accused allegedly maintained links with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MLA Senthil Balaji and his brother, Ashok. Following these disclosures, the police arrested two more individuals from Karur, bringing the total number of arrests to three.
In his complaint, Ilayaraja alleged that the consultancy firm employee offered him a bribe of ₹35 crore to support a no-confidence motion against Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakaran. The legislator also stated that he was strictly instructed by the accused not to disclose the monetary offer to anyone. Police and intelligence officials stated that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to ascertain the full scale of the conspiracy and identify any other individuals involved in the operation.
