HYDERABAD: A pregnant woman delivered the baby while standing in the government hospital in Telangana. The baby fell down and sustained head injuries. The incident happened at the Government Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Centre in Kothagudem town of Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
Bhavani from Dammapet had to face a tragic situation. The woman had been experiencing severe labour pain since the morning of the incident. She informed the hospital authorities, but no one attended on her. Unable to bear the pain, she got up from the bed and delivered the baby while standing.
The newborn baby, who fell on the floor during childbirth, suffered head injuries and the woman was bleeding heavily. Following the incident, other patients and relatives came forward staging protests. They alleged that the staff failed to provide timely medical care. The woman's family demanded strict action against those responsible for the incident.
However, the hospital authorities rejected the family's allegations. The doctors said the woman did not inform the nurse on duty about the labor pain. They said that if had informed on time, she would have been immediately shifted to the labor room. The authorities said the woman and the newborn were given necessary medical treatment and the health of the baby is being monitored.
