Two arrested for riding bike towards Vice President’s convoy in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two people have been arrested for riding a motorcycle towards the convoy of Vice President C P Radhakrishnan. The arrested have been identified as Ashkar and Nadirsha, natives of Vallakkadavu. The security lapse occurred in Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram, on Sunday.

The incident took place while the Vice President was returning to the airport after an official programme in Balaramapuram. The motorcycle came from the Thiruvallam side. Security personnel tried to stop the bike at Kovalam Junction, but the riders did not stop. After security officials raised an alert, police caught the two youths at Kanjiramkulam. Police said both of them were under the influence of alcohol.

Vice President C P Radhakrishnan had arrived in Kerala on Sunday for a one-day visit. He attended the Viswaseva Day celebrations organised at the Mata Amritanandamayi Math in Kollam as part of Mata Amritanandamayi's 73rd birthday celebrations. He also launched several charitable projects as part of the annual celebrations.

The Vice President also attended the convocation ceremony of the Sree Uthradom Thirunal (SUT) Academy of Medical Sciences in Thiruvananthapuram as the chief guest. The ceremony was held at the Ray Vijay Convention Centre in Balaramapuram.
