‘Save NSS from cowards and scoundrels; beware of petty gains’

IDUKKI: Former minister K B Ganesh Kumar has showered fresh criticisms against NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair. The NSS should be rescued from the hands of a wicked and cowardly person, he said while speaking at the silver jubilee celebrations of the Vandanmedu Sree Mahaganapathi Vilasam NSS Karayogam.

Ganesh Kumar alleged that Sukumaran Nair was turning people as his slaves by offering jobs to their wives and children, and urged people not to be influenced by petty benefits. He also questioned whether a Muslim scholar or community leader would ever be invited to speak at Mannath Padmanabhan memorial events.

Mannath Padmanabhan believed in secularism and treated people of all religions equally. However, Ganesh Kumar alleged that the present leadership had stopped the Chandanakkudam Nercha offering organised by the Jamaat in Changanassery. He added that the hypocrisy of claiming to love the Muslim community while taking such actions was evident to viewers on television.

Sukumaran Nair had previously made casteist remarks against Mata Amritanandamayi. Sukumaran Nair's granddaughter is pursuing MTech at the college run by the same spiritual leader. He further alleged that she would get a job at an engineering college in Palakkad after completing her studies.

Ganesh Kumar clarified that he is never against the NSS as an organisation but opposed what he described as the leadership's wrong policies. He urged every member of the community to vote against the official panel and come forward to bring about changes within the organisation.
