KOCHI: Actor and television anchor Ranjini Haridas has responded to BJP leader B Gopalakrishnan's allegation that film personalities were paid to support the protests organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). If was paid to attend, let those levelling the allegation prove it. Ranjini sarcastically said that if said how much money was received, will check my account and respond.
‘Who said that? What's his name? I've never even heard of him. If I attended the protest for money, let him prove it. Maybe their manner is to protest after accepting money. They probably assume artists will join demonstrations only if they're paid.
I went as I didn't have any stage shows for two days. A major protest is happening in Delhi. People join protests when they are genuinely moved by an issue. I'll stand with the students' protest till the very end. Some will applaud; others will criticise. It will not affect me. I've been through tougher situations,’ said Ranjini.
Earlier, Gopalakrishnan had mocked her, saying, ‘Ranjini Haridas has no stage shows, she went there because she got some money.’
He had earlier said we have ‘hit’ to chase cockroaches. Yesterday was just a small hit; a bigger hit is yet to come. When a government is functioning, it's natural to have a few cockroaches, rats and centipede around,’ in a sarcastic reference to the protest.
