THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With only days remaining until the kickoff of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has issued a critical safety advisory for football enthusiasts across the state. Fans have been strongly urged to refrain from installing flex boards, banners, flags, and festoons across roads or in close proximity to overhead power lines.

According to the state power utility, accidental contact with high-voltage lines while erecting these promotional materials poses a severe risk of electrocution and loss of life. Additionally, heavy winds and rains could dislodge these banners and flags, causing them to fall onto power lines. Such incidents frequently lead to widespread power outages and compromise public safety.

The KSEB has requested the public to exercise utmost vigilance during the tournament season. Citizens who notice any potential electrical hazards or damaged installations are urged to immediately contact their local KSEB section office or reach out via the emergency helpline number at 9496010101.
