Insulting Sree Narayana Guru: Police probe Subhash’s ‘doctor’, ‘tantri’ titles

ALUVA: Police questioned Subhash (57), owner of the Nagaraja Temple at Enanalloor, Peramangalam, who was arrested in a case related to allegedly portraying Sree Narayana Guru in a derogatory manner on social media. Police are examining the legal validity of using the title ‘Doctor’ before the accused’s name. His use of the title ‘Tantri’ is also under investigation.

Subhash was taken into custody on Tuesday morning and questioned before being produced in court in the evening. Aluva Cyber Cell CI S. Sudheesh Kumar had sought two days’ custody from the Ernakulam CJM Court. The court granted one day, but he was produced before the court the same evening after the questioning was completed.

Police had initially planned to take Subhash to the building attached to the Nagaraja Temple, where he had been staying, for evidence collection. The plan was later dropped. Subhash was arrested on the 25th and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by the court on the 26th.
