THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Four people sustained injuries, including a motorcyclist who lost a leg, when an out-of-control car struck a road divider and crashed into oncoming traffic near the General Hospital in Pattoor on Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:00 PM. According to police, the car was travelling from the General Hospital direction toward Pattoor when it mounted the median, crossed into the opposite lane, and collided head-on with a motorcycle before crashing into an auto-rickshaw.

Motorcyclist Prashanth Kumar suffered critical injuries, including a severed leg, and was rushed to a private hospital for emergency treatment. Eyewitnesses reported that the impact of the collision was severe enough to hurl the severed limb into a nearby church compound. Three passengers who were inside the auto-rickshaw at the time of the crash also sustained injuries, authorities confirmed.

Preliminary information from investigators indicates that the two occupants travelling in the car were under the influence of alcohol. The Vanchiyoor police have detained the two individuals, and further investigations into the accident are underway.
