Complaint to CM seeking probe on appointment of Mercykutty Amma’s son

KOLLAM: A complaint has been filed seeking an investigation into the appointment of former minister J Mercykutty Amma’s son as a junior resource person. Kollam district panchayat member Faisal Kulappadam has filed a complaint with the chief minister against Mercykutty Amma's son T M Arun.

Arun was appointed as a junior resource person (JRP) in 2023. The post of district development commissioner (DDC) was created to coordinate projects in the districts. Junior resource persons were appointed to help them.

Following the death of a person working in a similar post in Kollam, Arun was transferred to his own district as per his request. In the meantime, the DDC post was handed over to the sub-collector. Faisal pointed in his complaint why is there a JRP when there is no DDC and that it should be examined whether the post itself was created for a special appointment. However, Arun, an MTech graduate claimed that he got the job on merit and there is a political motive behind the controversy.
