THRISSUR: The DYFI state conference's organisational report has come down heavily on the functioning of the organisation, stating that the continuity of the LDF government in power had weakened the fighting spirit of both the organisation and young people. The report, presented by state secretary V K Sanoj, says that young people are moving away from the organisation and that the DYFI's activities have become weakened and fragmented.
It also criticises the organisation for focusing seriously only on the distribution of food packets. The report says stronger efforts are needed to bring young people closer to the organisation.
According to the report, the CJP protest attracted the participation of young people, and DYFI should adopt it as a model for organising youth-led struggles. Internal differences in the Thrissur, Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram districts also affected organisational activities.
The report also warns DYFI leaders and workers over drug use. It says the incident in which a DYFI area secretary in Thodupuzha was caught with synthetic drugs cannot be tolerated. Those found using drugs should either be reformed or kept away from the organisation, it adds.
