THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Special Public Prosecutor T. Santhosh Kumar has submitted before the court that former Public Prosecutor Geenakumari misled the court to secure bail for the ninth accused, Hareesh Kumar, in the case involving the attack on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials who conducted a raid at the residence of Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan. Santhosh Kumar was appointed as the Special Public Prosecutor in the case following the controversy surrounding Geenakumari's actions.

Arguing against the bail applications of the other accused, the Special Public Prosecutor stated that Geenakumari's previous submission claiming the investigation was complete was incorrect. He emphasised that the accused had committed a grave offence, noting that further investigation, including the verification of the defendants' phone records, is required. He urged the court not to grant bail to the accused, stating that such politically motivated actions, which bring disrepute to the nation, must be prevented.

Santhosh Kumar further countered the defence counsel's argument that the other accused should be granted bail on the grounds of parity since the ninth accused had already received it. Meanwhile, the Special Public Prosecutor representing the Enforcement Directorate also argued against the bail, stating that the attack was politically motivated and stemmed from animosity toward the central agency. The ED counsel warned that if such attacks are taken lightly, it could lead to similar repetitions in the future whenever a political leader faces arrest.

The court postponed further hearings on the matter to tomorrow after the Special Public Prosecutor filed a petition stating that the arguments could only be completed after the court reviews the video footage of the attack.
