THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Gold prices in the state have declined slightly today. The price of gold fell by Rs 10 per gram to Rs 13,090, while the price of one sovereign fell by Rs 80 to Rs 1,04,720. The decline comes amid renewed tensions in West Asia. After rising steadily from July 9, gold prices started falling yesterday. The price of gold had dropped by Rs 130 per gram to Rs 13,100 on Monday.

The price of one sovereign of gold was Rs 1,03,240 at the beginning of the month. It later climbed to Rs 1,07,800 before beginning its recent decline. The latest decline in gold prices offers some relief to people planning to buy jewellery.

Silver prices

Silver prices also declined today. The price fell by Rs 5 per gram to Rs 235. The market price is Rs 2,350 for 10 grams of silver and Rs 23,500 for 100 grams of silver. Today, one must pay Rs 2,35,000 to buy one kilogram of silver.
