KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has granted interim bail to Nawaz, the tenth accused in Renjith Sreenivasan murder case. The bail has been granted for a month. The bail is based on a medical report citing serious health issues. The medical report states that he suffered a stroke and is paralyzed. Nawaz has been in jail for a year after being sentenced to death. The court awarded death sentence to all the 15 accused in the case.
Renjith Sreenivasan was hacked to death in front of his mother, wife and daughter after barging into his house at Vellakinar in Alappuzha on December 19, 2021. Renjith was killed in revenge for the murder of SDPI State Secretary K S Shan at Mannancherry in Alappuzha on the night of December 18.
Alappuzha DySP N R Jayaraj completed the investigation and filed the charge sheet in the court. The prosecution examined 156 witnesses in the case. Around a thousand documents and over a hundred pieces of evidence were presented as evidence. The court had also examined evidence such as fingerprints, scientific evidence, CCTV footage and route maps prepared with the help of Google Maps.
