Heavy rain, Kallakkadal phenomenon likely; four districts on yellow alert

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that rain will continue across Kerala for the next five days. A yellow alert has been issued in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasaragod today, with isolated areas likely to receive heavy rainfall. Heavy rain refers to rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.


A warning has been issued for the possibility of heavy rain in two districts tomorrow. A yellow alert has been issued in Kannur and Kasaragod, where heavy rain is likely.
The weather department has also warned coastal residents to remain vigilant due to the possibility of the Kallakkadal phenomenon, which can cause sudden rough sea conditions.
