IMD forecasts heavy rains, thundershowers; more districts on orange, yellow alerts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a possibility of rain in Kerala for the next five days. Orange and yellow alerts have been issued in various districts. Orange alert has been issued in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod. There is an orange alert in Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow as well.
There is a possibility of very heavy rain in isolated places. The IMD has defined extremely heavy rainfall as 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rainfall in 24 hours. Rain with thunder is expected.

30/06/2026: Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad
01/07/2026: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
02/07/2026: Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
03/07/2026: Idukki, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Kannur, Kasaragod


The IMD has declared a yellow alert in the following districts. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected. The IMD defines heavy rainfall (ISOL H) as a situation where rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is received in 24 hours.
