NEW DELHI: Seven Kerala Police officers, two Fire and Rescue Service officials and two prison officials are among those who have received the President’s Medals announced on the occasion of Republic Day. Among the police officers, S. Sashidharan, Superintendent of Police and head of the Special Investigation Team investigating the Sabarimala gold theft case, has received the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
The Medal for Meritorious Service has been awarded to Inspector General Rajpal Meena, Superintendents of Police Binu R. Pillai and G. Ujjwal Kumar, Deputy Superintendents of Police V.R. Ravi Kumar and S.S. Suresh Babu, and Sub-Inspector S.L. Jyothish Kumar.
From the Fire and Rescue Service, Assistant Station Officers J. Rajendran Nair and N. Sebastian have received the Medal for Meritorious Service.
From the Prison and Correctional Services, Assistant Superintendent (Grade I) Sunil S. Kumar and Prison Officer M.K. Mohandas have also received the Medal for Meritorious Service.
Jijo Jacob, Assistant Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs, has received the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
Among those receiving the Medal for Meritorious Service are Gujarat Police Inspector Sivaraman Nair, BSF Inspector K.P. Surendran, and CRPF officials T.K. Muraleekrishnan, Varghese T. (Second-in-Command) and K. Rajagopal (Senior Instructor).
G. Ujjwal Kumar, Intelligence Superintendent at Vigilance headquarters, is a native of Karunagappally.
He joined the police service as a Sub-Inspector in 2003. He subsequently served as an Inspector and Deputy Superintendent of Police in the State Special Branch, District Crime Branch and State Crime Branch.
In 2025, he received the Chief Minister’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
