PALAKKAD: Minister K.A. Thulasi has dismissed allegations that she appointed a DYFI worker as her personal driver, describing the claims as "completely false." Speaking at the inauguration of her MLA office in Kongad, Thulasi said reports circulating on social media and in some sections of the media about her personal staff driver are baseless. She clarified that the driver had previously worked for Shafi Parambil during his tenure as Kerala Youth Congress state president and later served as the driver of MP V.K. Sreekandan for several years. The minister said he has no links with DYFI or any other Left organisation.
Thulasi said a photograph of the driver attending a public DJ event during the Mundur festival is being shared on social media with political motives. She explained that Congress workers traditionally construct the festival pavilion, while DYFI members are involved in organising the DJ programme, and that the event is open to the public.
The minister alleged that the false campaign was deliberately launched on the same day her MLA office was inaugurated. However, she said she would not take legal action against those spreading the claims, adding that "God will punish them."
Thulasi also said she is prepared to remove the driver from her personal staff if anyone can provide credible evidence that he assaulted any Congress or Youth Congress worker or has any connection with DYFI.
