ADIMALI: The Idukki District Collector has urged tourists to avoid travelling to Munnar as much as possible due to a persistent threat of landslides triggered by heavy rainfall along the Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway. The advisory was issued to ensure public safety following a major landslide that occurred near the CSI Church in Munnar recently.

Currently, traffic restrictions are in place on the highway near the CSI Church section. The landslide and subsequent soil erosion have also caused cracks to develop in a nearby building. Taking the immediate danger into account, authorities have evacuated all occupants from the affected structure to ensure their safety.

With heavy rains continuing to lash the region, the District Collector warned that the threat of further landslides remains high. In response to the situation, authorities have installed safety and warning boards at various vulnerable locations to alert commuters and prevent accidents.
