THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain in Kerala for the next five days. Orange and yellow alerts have been issued in various districts. Orange alert has been issued in Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow and in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod day after tomorrow.
The possibility of very heavy rain has been predicted in isolated places. The IMD defines heavy rain as rainfall in the range of 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours.

The IMD has declared a yellow alert in the following districts. The IMD defines heavy rainfall as a situation where rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is received in 24 hours.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kmph are possible in isolated places in Kerala from today (05/07/2026) to 07/07/2026.
People living in areas prone to landslides, mudslides and mountain floods should move to safe places as per the instructions of the authorities.
Those living in river banks and downstream areas of dams should also move to safe places as per the instructions of the authorities, anticipating the danger.
People living in disaster-prone areas should definitely ensure that camps are opened in their area and move there during the day. For this, they can contact the local body and revenue authorities.
Since there is a possibility of strong winds, those living in unsecured houses and those living in houses with weak roofs should be especially careful. Those who are aware of the danger should contact the authorities and move to safe places as part of their safety precautions.
