THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The price of gold continued to decline in the state on Monday. The price of 22-carat gold dropped by Rs 30 per gram to Rs 14,125. The price of one sovereign (8 grams) fell by Rs 240 to Rs 1,13,000.
The rise in crude oil prices above $108 per barrel amid tensions in West Asia, along with growing concerns over higher inflation and increased interest burdens, has negatively affected gold prices.
On August 24, gold was priced at Rs 15,030 per gram and Rs 1,20,240 per sovereign. However, prices declined in the following days. Gold prices have witnessed significant fluctuations over the past month.
Price of silver
There is no change in the price of silver today. The market price is Rs 250 per gram. Ten grams costs Rs 2,500, while 100 grams is priced at Rs 25,000. Today, one kilogram of silver costs Rs 2,50,000.
