KANNUR: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has found that KSU workers did not attack former Health Minister Veena George during the protest at Kannur railway station. SIT chief U Preman has submitted the investigation report to the DGP. According to the findings, the KSU workers could not reach the minister. The report states that only pushing and jostling took place at the railway station and that there was no physical attack on her.

Abhilash, the minister's gunman, had initially told the first investigation team that he had personally witnessed KSU workers attacking the minister during the black flag protest at the railway station. However, he later changed his statement, saying that he had given the earlier version at the minister's direction and had not personally witnessed any attack. These details have also been included in the SIT report. The report has left it to the DGP to decide whether action should be taken against the gunman for changing his statement.

The incident took place on February 25, 2026, when KSU workers staged a black flag protest against Veena George at the Kannur railway station. Following the minister's injury during the protest, the Railway Police registered a case invoking charges including attempt to murder. M C Athul, V V Akshay, Bithul Balan, C H Mubas and Ahmed Yasin were named as accused in the case. They were granted bail after spending 16 days in remand at Kannur Sub Jail.
