Teachers arrested in MDMA case

KOZHIKODE: Reports say the teachers arrested in the Vadakara MDMA case were office bearer of the left organisation. Posters revealing their organizational affiliation are circulating on social media. A report released by a private channel said that Kavya and Keerthana were the convener and joint convener of the Perambra branch of the Kerala Resource Teachers Association (KRTA), a teachers' organization in the Block Resource Centre (BRC). However, it is not clear whether Neeshma has political affiliations.

Most of the appointments in BRC are temporary contract appointments. Although the appointment is for one year, the contracts are renewed every year due to political connections and influence. This is how Kavya and Keerthana continued in BRC. The opponents allege that many of their past actions were covered up due to political connections. However, the organization leaders said that both of them were branch office bearers of KRTA two years ago and that they had no connection with the drug mafia at that time.

Meantime, the police investigation into the case is continuing strongly. The police will soon take steps to confiscate the assets of the accused. There are hints that more are likely to be arrested in the case. However, the police are not confirming this. The teachers had made deals with drug gangs by establishing contacts through Instagram. The three would share the money they received from selling drugs. The police found that the accused had connections with the gangs in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

When the teachers' bank records were examined, it was found that there were financial transactions worth crores. Keerthana's account had received Rs 14 lakh in a year and Kavya's account received Rs 9 lakh in five months. Those who sent money to the accused are also under surveillance. The next goal of the police is to find out who is directly distributing MDMA to the needy.
