Temperatures may rise by up to 4°C; People asked to be vigilant

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that temperatures are likely to rise across Kerala on Wednesday, with a possible rise of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius. Precautionary measures have also been issued in view of the heatwave warning. The state has been experiencing intense heat over the past few days. Although there has been occasional rainfall, temperatures continue to rise sharply.

High temperatures can lead to several health issues including heatstroke, sunburn, and dehydration. People are therefore advised to follow safety guidelines when going out. They should use umbrellas and sunglasses and wear loose, cotton clothes. Since dehydration is a possibility, people have also been advised to drink a lot of water.

Meantime, rainfall warnings have been issued for two districts in the state tomorrow. A yellow alert has been issued in Alappuzha and Ernakulam. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in these areas. Heavy rainfall refers to rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours.
