Newly-wed woman found hanging at in-laws' house in Thiruvananthapuram

VIZHINJAM: A young woman was found hanging in her husband's house in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday. Vigneshwari (27), wife of Abhilash, was found hanging from a fan in the bedroom on the first floor of Podiyanivila house near the Vizhinjam Community Health Centre. The couple married just two years ago.

There was no one at home at the time of the incident. When Abhilash's father, Chandran, arrived at the house around 6 pm, he found it locked. After not responding to phone calls, Chandran broke the window with the help of a neighbour and saw the young woman hanging. Immediately, they barged into the house after breaking down the door. Relatives and locals rushed the young woman to the hospital, but the doctor informed her that she had been dead for hours, relatives said.

Abhilash's mother, Jayalakshmi, had been at her daughter's house in Chennai for four months. Chandran said that they had celebrated the couple's wedding anniversary two days ago and denied any marital problems. The police are meanwhile questioning Abhilash. The reason that led to the suicide can be known only if the woman's mother comes and records her statement. The police have taken the woman's phone into custody. Vigneshwari is the daughter of Nagarajan and Kala, natives of Nagercoil. The Vizhinjam police registered a case.
