KOCHI: Actor Ansiba Hassan has approached the police, lodging a formal complaint against fellow actors Shwetha Menon and Lakshmi Priya for allegedly creating and circulating defamatory and obscene videos targeting her on social media platforms. Following the legal move, Ansiba took to her social media accounts to release a statement, asserting that while she is aware the targeted harassment against her may not end immediately, she is fully resolved to fight back.
In her detailed statement, Ansiba opened up about the intense cyberbullying and communal targeting she has endured, noting that she was subjected to derogatory slurs, labelled a "jihadi," and systematically isolated over narratives surrounding religious conversion. She claimed that several individuals, including an elected public representative, colluded in this smear campaign. However, Ansiba revealed that the son of the same public representative later reached out to her privately, sending a message of support, urging her to stay strong.
The actor further alleged that a coordinated character assassination campaign has been orchestrated against her. According to Ansiba, the defamation extended beyond her professional life, drawing in colleagues, a prominent veteran actor, and even targeting her personal life through her stepfather and her four siblings. She alleged that certain quarters have deployed PR agencies, spending substantial amounts of money to orchestrate conspiracies and break her morale.
Despite expressing fears for her safety, Ansiba stated that she chose to approach the Palarivattom police station because of her unwavering faith in the legal system. She also hinted at internal friction within her professional circle, stating that the unanswered questions she raised within her industry association continue to linger and will not be silenced. Emphasising that the truth will eventually surface, Ansiba concluded that her trust in justice remains her sole guiding light through this ordeal.
