
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay said drone patrols will be conducted in India for the first time to prevent atrocities against women. Vijay was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Singappen’ Task Force' announced by the TVK government as soon as it came to power. He said drug gangs are behind the atrocities against women and that the menace of drug abuse will be eradicated from the state.
The aim is to create an environment where women can live with self-respect and without fear. Vijay said immediate action will be taken against crimes against women and strict punishment will be ensured. The government has allocated Rs 354 crore for the project. In the next phase, 2,500 more people will be appointed in the task force.
12 teams of the Singappen Task Force will be patrolling the cities of Tamil Nadu from today. The team is conducting surveillance in the station areas of Flower Bazaar, Washermanpet, Pulianthope, Adyar, T Nagar, St. Thomas Mount, Anna Nagar, Kolathur, Koyambedu, Triplicane, Mylapore and Kilpoth. Assistant Commissioners of each area will be in responsible of the teams.
