KOCHI: A man identified as Devan, accused in multiple criminal cases including the KAAPA case, was arrested by the Kadavanthra police after he threatened a hotel owner with a machete on Sunday night. The incident occurred at around 9 PM at a hotel in Gandhinagar, Kadavanthra.

According to the hotel owner, Devan and a friend visited the establishment and ordered biryani. The duo are reportedly regular customers at the hotel. However, trouble began when Devan was asked to pay the bill after finishing his meal. Angered by the request, Devan allegedly brandished a machete and attempted to attack the owner while shouting aggressively.

The entire incident was captured on the hotel’s CCTV cameras. Witnesses suspect Devan was under the influence of alcohol at the time. Despite the tense situation, the owner managed to handle the confrontation with restraint, ensuring no one was harmed.

The altercation caused significant disruption to the hotel’s operations, with business coming to a standstill for over an hour. The Kadavanthra police arrived on the scene about ten minutes after Devan left. Following an investigation, they arrested the accused. Police have confirmed that Devan has a history of criminal activities and is involved in several cases.
