Newman college professor dies in road accident in Venmani

VANNAPPURAM: A college professor died tragically after the scooter he travelled collided with a car in Venmani. Dr Bijoy Thomas (52), a professor of the chemistry department of Thodupuzha Newman College, died in the accident. The accident occurred at 7.30 am on Monday. Bijoy’s son George (10) is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thodupuzha after suffering serious injuries in the accident.

Dr Bijoy Thomas, who was heading towards Vannappuram in a scooter, was hit by a car coming from the opposite direction near Venmani toddy shop. Dr Bijoy was immediately taken to a private hospital in Thodupuzha, but his life could not be saved. He is a native of Theekumthandu, Murikkassery and lives in Nediyakadu, Karinkunnam. The accident occurred while Bijoy was on his way back from his family home in Theekumthandu after meeting his paternal uncle. The car that was hit belongs to the Pazhayarikandam native.

Wife: Gino. Daughter: Arna. After the public viewing to be held at Thodupuzha Newman College from 9.15 to 10.15 on Tuesday morning, the funeral will be held at St. Little Flower Church, Nediyakadu at 2.30 pm.
