
KOLLAM: The District Collector has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in Kollam district on April 24 due to the continuing extreme heat. As temperatures are likely to rise to 40°C, the holiday applies to all educational institutions in the district, including professional colleges. However, previously scheduled public examinations and interviews will not be affected by this holiday.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high alert in the state due to heatwave conditions. Heatwave warnings have been announced in Palakkad, Kollam, and Thrissur districts. Other districts are also expected to experience intense heat due to high temperatures and humidity. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has advised people across the state to remain extremely cautious.
