KIIFB support for development of hospitals, 605 crores has been sanctioned: health minister

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister updated that funds for the development of hospitals in state have been released. Minister Veena George announced that a financial sanction of Rs 605.49 crore has been made available for the renovation of eight hospitals by KIIFB.

Kozhikode Perambra Taluk Hospital Rs 50.06 crore, Kollam Pathanapuram Taluk Hospital Rs 91.88 crore, Thrissur Kunnamkulam Taluk Hospital Rs 76.51 crore, Malappuram Kondotty Taluk Hospital Rs 36.19 crore, Kannur District Hospital Rs 10.70 crore, Ernakulam Kothamangalam Taluk Hospital Rs 11.21 crore, Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Rs 43.75 crore Thrissur Medical College, Mother and Child Block 279.19 crores are the amounts that have been sanctioned.

The minister also said that the procedures will be completed as soon as possible and the construction work will begin. Meanwhile, Harsheena, who lived with scissors in her stomach for five years, started a hunger strike in front of Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The strike started in front of the Kozhikode Medical College yesterday morning since no action was taken against the doctors and hospital authorities responsible for the case of scissors getting stuck in the stomach during delivery surgery. She said that if there is no intervention from the government, there will be a hunger strike till death.
