Man arrested for hanging wife in well, demanding dowry

BHOPAL: Police have arrested a man who hung his wife in a well in demand for dowry. The arrested person is Madhya Pradesh Kirpura native Rakesh Kumar. The incident took place on August 20.

After hanging his wife Usha in a well, Rakesh Kumar recorded the video and sent it to Usha's relatives. He then demanded Rs 5 lakh from his wife's family. Usha's family members and other locals soon reached the spot and rescued her. The police later arrested Rakesh Kumar after the video of the act circulated on social media.

Rakesh and Usha got married three years ago. Sources said that Rakesh had been torturing her in the name of dowry since then.
