KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at various PFI centres in Kerala in the case of Hawala deals and foreign funds received by PFI leaders from abroad. Records of bank transactions were also seized. The raids took place in the houses of former leaders and activists in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Wayanad districts.
At Ernakulam Kumbalam, ED conducted a raid at the former PFI district president and retired superintendent from the education department, Jamal Muhammad’s residence. In Thrissur Chavakkad, the raid was held at former state secretary P.K. Abdul Latif's house.
The raid was conducted at two places in Manjeri and three places in Areekode and Valanchery. The raid is in a case registered by the Delhi unit of ED for charges of money laundering and misappropriation of money received from abroad for anti-national activities.
