KOCHI: Director K G George has gifted Malayalam cinema enthusiasts with some of the finest movies. George's body was cremated at the Ravipuram public crematorium. In accordance with his final wishes, religious rituals were omitted. The police provided a guard of honour at the crematorium.
Distinguished people from the realms of politics, society, culture and cinema paid their last respects to the deceased, whose body was placed on public display at Ernakulam Town Hall from 11 am onwards. The state government along with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Ministers P Rajeev and Saji Cherian, District Collector and Additional District Magistrate S Shah Jahan offered their condolences.
Colleagues from the film industry including Kamal, Sibi Malayil, Ranji Panicker, Baiju Kottarakkara, Srimulanaragam Mohan, B Unnikrishnan, Priyanandan, Idavela Babu, Shibu Chakraborty, Alleppy Ashraf, Benny P Nayarambalam, Bernie Ignatius, S N Swamy, Ziad Coker, S Kumar, Anto Joseph, Saji Nanthyattu, Joshi, Blessey, and Kala Bhavan Secretary K.S. Prasad, as well as actors Siddique, Kunchacko Boban, Joju George, Shine Tom Chacko, Harishree Asokan, Lal, Naren, Jalaja and Tesni Khan and MLAs K Babu, Manjalamkuzhi Ali, T J Vinod and Uma Thomas along with political and cultural leaders Dr Sebastian Paul, Mohammad Shiyas, Dr K S Radhakrishnan, C G Rajagopal, K Suresh Kurup, Jose Thetta and K S Shaiju and others paid their final respects.
He passed away at 10.15 am on Sunday morning at Signature Age Care in Ernakulam Kakkanad. He had been a resident there for two years.
